Battle of the Forces Tournament

Military, first responders, and celebrities were all on hand for the first ever Armorbearers Battle of the Forces softball tournament.

News 25’s Jeff Haeger participated in the tournament. The event featured teams representing each branch of the military and local first responders.

Teams competed for the Battle of the Forces trophy which will remain with the winning team until next year’s tournament.

All the proceeds go to building a home for Jack Walker, a Purple Heart recipient who lost his home last April in a fire.  Staff Sgt. Ron Laabs said, “Our motto is ‘we serve those who serve because of who we serve.’ So we are faith based and faith led and this community is a Bible Belt community. It’s a military community, so it all just works here. The people here have opened their hearts, opened their wallets to help those veterans out and first responders out.”

Former NFL Star Hugh Green said, “They called me and said ‘hey, would you come down?’ I’d love to come down, love to come down to help. Biloxi is a local area. I’m from Mississippi. It was all two-tiered things that worked out together.”
