Barry Lyons Baseball Showcase at MGM Park
The lights at MGM Park were on tonight but it wasn’t for the Shuckers.
Dozens of high school baseball players got a chance to take the field during tonight’s Barry Lyons Baseball Fall Wood Bat League Showcase. The teams competing recently finished a six week season at the A.J. Holloway Sports Complex. Tonight, they showed off what they have learned. Coach James Brune’s team faced off against Coach Barry Lyons at 5:30 featuring the ninth and 10th graders and at 7:15 featuring the 11th and 12th graders.
“Just being a part of this and being able to allow the community to come out and enjoy it. These high school kids, that’s going to be a memory they’re going to cherish and take with them for many years to come. That right there makes me feel good and makes me do what I do,” said Lyons.
The showcase was free and open to the public. Lyons also said junior college scouts were invited to come out and possibly recruit future players.
