Bark for Life

Dog owners and those committed to defeating cancer gathered in Biloxi on Saturday for a unique event.

‘Bark for Life of the Mississippi Gulf Coast’ was put on by the American Cancer Society as a way to honor dogs who provide comfort and support to those battling cancer.

Attendees and their four-legged friends had the chance to interact with numerous vendors and local organizations as well as participate in an honor walk and fun pet fashion show and look-a-like contest. Lawanda Jones with the American Cancer Society said, “There’s a lot of things when somebody is battling cancer that actually, besides just the treatments, that go into their overall health and well-being. Having that family, having that canine, having those friends sometimes are more medicine than the actual treatments. It’s very important that we recognize that and we celebrate that.”

Proceeds raised during the event benefit the American Cancer Society and their initiatives here on the Coast.
