Back the Blue Day

People across the Coast are taking today to show appreciation for men and women in uniform.

Today is Back the Blue Day which is a day citizens and students thank law enforcement personnel for all they do for the school system and the community.

This morning, deputies at the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department received gift bags with goodies and hand written notes from dozens of schools across Harrison County.

Miss Teen United States Kimber Smith tells News 25 this is a day to give back to those who serve us all the time. “In each gift bag the sheriff’s will receive five cards from the students in the Harrison County School District, a pencil, a couple pens, a bag of chips, a pack of cards from IP, and a water from Coca-Cola.”
