Autopsy to be done for deceased inmate
The Mississippi Department of Corrections says an autopsy is in order for an inmate who died in a Jackson hospital.
The inmate, identified as 58-year-old Herman David Wiley, was taken to the hospital from a correctional facility in Rankin County.
He is the 49th inmate to die since late December. The department has said that no foul play is suspected and an autopsy is being done to find the cause of death.
Wiley was convicted in DeSoto County on two counts of fondling a child and two counts of sexual battery. He was sentenced in 1999 to a total of 30 years.
