Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch launches run for governor

Another Mississippi elected official has announced their run for governor in the 2027 elections.

Republican Attorney General Lynn Fitch officially launched her bid for the governor’s mansion Tuesday morning with a kick off video.

Fitch has held elected office in Mississippi since 2012, serving two terms as state treasurer, then in 2019, she became the first republican elected to the post of attorney general since reconstruction.

In her campaign launch, Fitch touted her accomplishments in fighting crime in the Magnolia State over her two terms as AG, as well as her desire to forge important partnerships if elected governor.

Fitch is the third major Republican to formally announce for the race, a field that includes State Agriculture Commissioner Andy Gipson and former House Speaker Philip Gunn, with others rumored to be considering bids for the top office as well.
