Looking hot but mostly dry this week

Meteorologist Sam Lucey has a look at the forecast for south Mississippi

Tonight will be clear and comfortable by August standards, with lows falling into the low and mid 70s. Sunshine returns on Tuesday, sending afternoon temperatures into the mid 90s. Humidity gradually returns too, making it feel even warmer, so be sure to stay hydrated if you’re spending time outdoors.

Beginning Wednesday, a few pop-up showers and thunderstorms will be possible during the afternoon and evening hours, but rain chances remain low through Friday. Most communities will stay dry, with highs holding in the lower 90s. If we do see any pop up showers, areas that get rain will generally see less than one tenth of an inch.

Looking ahead to the weekend, rain chances increase slightly as scattered afternoon thunderstorms become a little more common. Even so, it won’t be a washout, and there will still be plenty of dry time for outdoor plans. High temperatures will remain in the lower 90s through early next week with overnight lows in the mid 70s.
