Attempted Murder Arrest – Johnny Anthony Carter

                                             

On June 5, 2018, Officers arrested 37 year old Johnny Anthony Carter, of Gulfport charging him with one count of Attempted Murder. The warrants were obtained from Harrison County Justice Court Judge Louise Ladner who set bond at $250,000.

The arrest was the result of a patrol response to the area of the 4200 block of 20th Street in reference to a firearms discharge. Responding Officers were canvassing the area when they observed a 54 year old female suffering from gunshot wounds. A male identified as Johnny Carter was nearby and immediately detained by an Officer. The female was transported to an area hospital where her current condition is listed as critical. The resulting investigation revealed that Carter and the victim were engaged in a dispute when Carter retrieved a handgun and shot her twice, once in the body and once in the head while on the porch of a residence. A handgun was recovered from the residence. Carter and the victim were acquaintances. Carter was processed and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center.
