Assistant Police Chief Rodney McGilvary Says Goodbye

After 40 years of service to Biloxi, Assistant Police Chief Rodney McGilvary is turning in his badge.
Tonight at the Biloxi Civic Center, Mayor Andrew ‘FoFo’ Gilich, Police Chief John Miller, countless law enforcement officers, city employees and citizens came together to honor McGilvary and all he’s done for the City of Biloxi.
McGilvary says his time with the police force has been a humbling and rewarding experience. “Being a police officer is a public service. You’re on 24/7 so to speak. There’s no clock. Sure you take days off, you take vacations, but you’re really not off. It’s a service. It’s a calling. You have to be dedicated to the citizens that you serve. It’s very humbling for me to have served for 40 plus years as a public service.”
McGilvary’s retirement marks the end of the longest term served by a member of the Biloxi Police Department.
