Ashes to-go tomorrow at Jim Simpson Pier

Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the Lenten season, and many Christians receive ashes on their foreheads to symbolize death and repentance.

Two churches in Long Beach are making it quick and easy with a drive-thru event.

Grace Lutheran Church and First United Methodist Church are teaming up to give out ashes at Jim Simpson Pier at the foot of Jeff Davis Avenue.

Ashes will be distributed from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. according to Pastor Dave Parr.
