Arrests made after three injured, including 12-year-old, in Picayune shooting

PICAYUNE, Miss. (WXXV)- Three people, including a 12-year-old, were hurt in a shooting Saturday night in Picayune. Now, two people are facing attempted murder charges.

Police say officers responded just before 11 p.m. that night to South Haugh Avenue, where they found three gunshot victims.

Twenty-year-old Lamar Ankrum was shot in the leg, 48-year-old Robert Bailey Sr. suffered a graze wound to the head, and a 12-year-old boy was shot in the hip.

Authorities say all three are expected to recover.

Investigators say the shooting stemmed from an earlier incident in which Robert Bailey Jr. was allegedly assaulted by Ankrum and two other people.

In this case, Ankrum is charged with attempted murder and possession of a stolen fire arm.

Bailey Sr. is charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count of burglary of a dwelling.

Police say the investigation remains active and more arrests are expected.
