Arrested for credit card fraud
On May 15th, 2018 the Biloxi Police Department arrested 39-year-old Jason Jerome Smith of Gulfport on an outstanding felony warrant for credit card fraud. The warrant stemmed from an investigation from March 2018 where a victim reported losing his wallet in the 2600 Block of CT Switzer Drive. Subsequently, a credit card which was in the victim’s wallet, was found to have been used at three separate local businesses for amounts in excess of $100.
Surveillance images from those businesses were obtained and released to the media asking for assistance. Several tips were obtained as a result, which led to investigators being able to identify Smith as the subject depicted in the surveillance videos using the credit card. Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain was contacted and issued a warrant for Smith imposing a $5,000 bond.
Smith was later transferred to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center.
