Arrest made in Saturday Night Shooting

An arrest has been made in the Saturday night shooting that took the life of one 16-year-old male.
Gulfport police arrested 15-year-old Kobe Jaquan Augustine of Gulfport in connection to the west Gulfport shooting on 19th Street. According to officials, a physical altercation between the two juveniles resulted in Augustine shooting the 16-year-old male in the head before fleeing the scene.
The victim was airlifted to a hospital in Mobile where he later died.
Nearby resident Tammy Rupert said, “We have lots of young men and women in our area and anytime there is something so tragic like this happens, it saddens us all. We all just need to try and do the right thing and raise the kids the positive way.”
Augustine is charged with first degree murder. He’s currently being held at Harrison County Adult Detention Facility on a $1 million bond.
