Arrest Made in Rape of 78-Year-Old Gulfport Woman

On October 20, 2015, the Gulfport Police Department arrested 44 year old Deltber Keyes on the charges of Kidnapping, Rape, and Robbery.
Keyes’s arrested was the result of an investigation into a reported rape that occurred on October 18, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. At that time, the Gulfport Police Department responded to a residence in the 800 block of 25th Street in reference to a rape victim.
The on scene investigation revealed that the 78 year old victim encountered the suspect in the yard of her residence after hearing suspicious noises. At that time, the victim was forced into her residence. While inside the residence, the suspect held the victim against her will and raped her. The suspect later took an undisclosed amount of money and fled the residence on foot.
During a follow up investigation, the Gulfport Police Department received an anonymous tip which led to Keyes being developed as the suspect. Based on the information received, warrants were obtained for Keyes’s arrest on the charges of kidnapping, rape, and robbery.
On October 20, 2015, the Gulfport Police Detective located and arrested Keyes at a residence in the 700 block of 26th Street. It is unknown at this time if Keyes lived in the area. At the time of his arrest, Keyes was visiting family on 26th Street.
After booking and other procedures, Keyes was transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Facility to be held in lieu of a $1,000,000.00 bond set by Harrison County Justice Court Judge Brandon Ladner.
