Army National Guard Closes Armories
Army National Guard is closing four armories and more closures could be on the horizon. As it cuts the size of its force, the National Guard is closing readiness centers in Grenada, Menden Hall, Lumberton, and Nettleton. Those doors will be closed by October 23. Full time workers stationed at those armories will be reassigned as well as part time guard members who report for service. The move is expected to save the guard 130 thousand dollars mostly in maintenance and utility costs. The Mississippi Army National Guard will have 79 armories after the closing no word on when future closures are expected to happen.
