Arbor Day in Moss Point

Arbor Day is tomorrow. The entire Gulf Coast will be joining in the festivities by planting trees and the City of Moss Point is no exception.
Tomorrow, the Moss Point Parks and Recreation Department and students from the high school will come together to plant donated live oak trees all over the city. Many of those trees will go on the lawn between City Hall and the Riverfront Community Center.
The city hopes the trees will one day cast shade on visitors during Moss Point’s Cruisin’ the Coast festivities. Parks and Rec Superintendent Chadwick Smith said, “The Mississippi Land Trust has donated ten live oak trees for the city to be able to plant in various parks across town. Right here is our Riverfront Community Center lawn and we plan to plant five on the perimeter and go across the bridge to Pelican Landing and plant four over there and then we’re going to plant one at Frederick Street Ball Park.”
If you want to come out and watch the planting take place, the tentative start time is 10 a.m.
