Arbor Day festivities

Tomorrow is Arbor Day. In Mississippi, the following week is ‘tree planting week’ designated by Governor Phil Bryant.

In honor of Arbor Day, the Harrison County Soil and Water Conservation District will be hosting their annual tree sale. From 7:30 a.m. to noon, or as long as supplies last, you can stop by 12238 Ashley Drive in Gulfport to purchase a tree. You can choose from live oak, blueberry bushes, river birch, and southern Magnolia.

The state of Mississippi benefits from forestry which contributes over $12 billion to the state’s economy and employs almost 70,000 people.
