Applications open for Mardi Gras parades in Ocean Springs

Applications are now open for three parades set to roll in Ocean Springs during the upcoming Mardi Gras season.

The Ocean Springs Elks will have their parade Saturday, February 12th and their float theme this year is ‘Just for Laughs.’

Krewe Unique will have a Motown themed parade right after.

The Ocean Springs Art Association will hold their night parade on February 25th with an Arabian Nights theme.

All of these parades will follow the route beginning on Front Beach and finishing on Government Street. Krewe Unique Treasurer L’Quitha Brock said, “I think it’s important for communities to come together because you get to see your friends, your family, it’s fun and laughter. And it’s also a time for local businesses to increase their economy with sales from tourists and just the locals that are in the area. It is a year-long planning process. As soon as Mardi Gras ends, we start planning for the next year.”

Float applications can be picked up at the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce on Washington Avenue.
