Another big road project will impact Biloxi residents
There’s another big road project underway in Biloxi.
If you’re driving along Highway 90 you may see construction in action. Workers are installing a 16 inch water line along the north side of the highway between downtown and Seashore Methodist.
Motorists can expect limited lane closures south of the CSX railway where drainage, sewer, and water lines will be replaced.
Biloxi city officials tell News 25 although this infrastructure construction is similar to the Oscar Renda road work in east Biloxi, the project is planned to cause less of a hassle for motorists. Vincent Creel with the City of Biloxi Public Affairs said, “The city has a much tighter contract. Mayor Gilich has said from day one he was not going to let that be repeated south of the railway. You’re seeing that right now. We’ve gotten great feedback from residents. They love the idea that every day when these workers leave they open that road back up. On the downside, that takes more time.”
When the work finishes up along Highway 90 and moves over onto Irish Hill Drive, Biloxi city officials expect construction to impact residents more. The work is part of a $23 million project.
