Annual ‘Walking on Water’ Bridge Walk aims to help fight hunger on the Coast

One group is hoping to help fight hunger on the Coast this weekend and you can help.

The Coast Young Professionals are hosting their 13th annual ‘Walking on Water’ event. This is a Coast-wide philanthropic effort benefitting Feeding the Gulf Coast.

The event takes place Saturday, March 7th at the Biloxi-Bay Bridge, starting on the Ocean Springs side from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.

You can bring canned goods to the walk and they will be donated to Feeding the Gulf Coast. Lindsay Mitchell with the Coast Young Professionals said, “So, I think it was actually one in five people along the Gulf Coast are food insecure. So, we actually have a tremendous amount that people don’t really realize. We were able to raise 20,000 meals last year. I think since we have been partnering with Feeding the Gulf Coast, it’s been around 56,000. So, the fact that goes to all of these people and it is really being used that just shows how real and prevalent it is on our Gulf Coast.”

If you would like to participate in the bridge walk you can show up to the Biloxi Bay Bridge on the Ocean Springs side tomorrow. You can also text ‘WOW13’ to 71777 to donate to Feeding the Gulf Coast.
