Annual Scholarship Program kicks off in Jackson County

Academic excellence is getting ready to explode in Jackson County. Members of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and school officials gathered for the 27th annual Explosion of Excellence this afternoon in Pascagoula.
The program honors the academic achievements of graduating high school seniors within the county who land in the top ten percent of their classes.
Jackson County chamber members tell News 25 awarding this scholarship every year is a way to let the students know how much they mean to the community. President/CEO of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce Carla Todd Voda said, “We have a lot of jobs in Jackson County and what better way to let the students know we want you to come back and the community reaching out, the businesses, the individuals of our local community donating these sponsorships every single year just reinforces that with our students.”
Chairman of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce Lee Bond said, “You see the funds go back to these students, many of whom come back to work in Jackson County so it’s a great program.”
As part of a fundraiser for the scholarship, the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce is selling raffle tickets for an opportunity to win a $1,500 cruise.
