Annual Pelican Cluster Dog Show in Biloxi

June’s beginning to bring in those dog-days of summer, especially this weekend at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi.
The Pelican Cluster Dog Show continues in day two of the annual all-breed dog show. If you had the chance to get your paws on all of the action this afternoon, walking into the coliseum’s convention center, you may have seen the 1,000 plus dogs from all over the country. They were getting pampered and all prettied up to compete for the best dog in the show.
Handler Lesley Pettengill said, “It’s not really just who has the better dog. It’s not just a beauty pageant. Each breed is judged against the standard, not judged against each other.”
Handler Zulema Miller said, “I enjoy it. It’s a sport for me. Get away from my home and my kids and my grandkids. I’ve been doing this for 40 years.”
The dog show is free and will run until Sunday. On the last day of the competition, the best dog in the show will be crowned.
