Annual Gorenflo’s Cobia Tournament

Sunday’s weather was perfect for rippin’ lips at the annual Gorenflo’s Cobia Fishing Tournament at Point Cadet Marina in Biloxi.

The two day tournament has been around for 32 years. Some of the winnings include a boat prize for the biggest fish on Saturday and Sunday. The tournament also includes an estimated 40,000 in prize money.

The best part of the competition is when different generations compete to see who can reel in the biggest fish. Fishing Tournament Promoter Danny Pitalo said, “It’s been generations passed down. Right now, we have some third generation young men fishing. We call them the millennial team. They are out there fishing against their dads and grandpas and stuff. It’s a tradition type deal that has been passed down from year to year.”

One of the bigger fish of the tournament weighed in at 77 pounds.
