Anchor Fest Preps are Underway

If you’ve driven along Highway 90 in Gulfport, you might notice some commotion at Jones Park. Crews are getting ready for this weekend’s third annual Anchor Fest.
The two day event will have something for everyone with live music, local food, arts and crafts booths, history exhibits and even a pirate costume contest for both kids and adults.
Gulfport Main Street Director Laurie Toups tells News 25 this event has grown every year and that there’s something for everyone. “We’ve got the children’s area that’s going in now. The Utility Partner’s Children’s Village is huge this year. We have over ten different tents just for the kids to participate. We’ve got hats and bird houses and fun games that they’ll be playing. The music is really what it’s all about this year. We’ve got some fantastic music.”
Anchor Fest will run Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Admission is free.
Following Saturday’s Anchor Fest at 7:30 there will be a special Cinema by the Shore showing “Pirates of the Caribbean.”
