Anchor Fest Plans Unveiled

Mark your calendars, the second annual Anchor Fest is coming up in just a few weeks.
The City of Gulfport has officially announced its plan to draw hundreds of people to the event at Jones Park on September 26th and the 27th. Headliners include Irma Thomas, the soul queen of New Orleans and Amanda Shaw and the Cute Boys, among others.
Don’t forget your eye patches because this year the festival is pirate themed with a pirate costume contest for the kids. The event is free and city leaders are expecting it to be bigger and better than last year.
Executive Director of Gulfport Main Street Laurie Toups said, “We’re really tickled about everything that’s happening and how it’s coming together. We’ve got an expanded children’s village, not just an area. We have over ten different community events that will be happening, surrounding the children’s area. There will be all kinds of things that the kids will be able to do. You’ll be able to take them over there and let them have great fun.”
In addition to all day long music and the costume contest, there will be plenty of local food as well as an artist market.
