Anchor Awards

Small business and non-profit organizations were the stars of the show this morning in Jackson County.
The ninth annual Anchor Awards highlighted the accomplishments and hard work of 29 nominees. Compton Engineering took home the small business category one award and Community Bank took category two. Whimsy Books and Toys received the rookie business award. Feeding the Gulf Coast won non-profit organization of the year.
An anonymous committee chooses the winners, but officials tell News 25 all small businesses and non-profits are essential for success in the county. Jackson County Chamber of Commerce Chairman Lee Bond said, “It’s a chance for us to spotlight and recognize a lot of our small businesses here in Jackson County that are really the heart and soul of this county. It’s a real blessing to operate a business in Jackson County and in this event we’ll recognize some of those small businesses today.”
The 29 nominees employ over 2,000 employees total. The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce hosted the awards at the Pelican Landing Conference Center in Moss Point.
