AMR plans for hot weekend

There is a heat advisory this weekend and the heat index is expected to reach dangerous levels.

AMR is partnering with other local first responders to make sure everyone is staying safe. AMR plans on having ten plus total assets to handle any type of emergency calls including first aid sites and responding boats. They will be set up along Highway 90 where the Blue Angels will perform over the beach.

Multiple chiefs from the Gulf Coast met with officials from Pensacola, Florida where the Blue Angels show brings thousands to see how they prepare.

The heat that we will be dealing with this weekend will make it feel like 110 degrees at times. AMR is making sure they are prepared to deal with anything that may come their way. AMR Field Supervisor Charles Wise said, “We’ve got plenty of resources that will be available. They’ll be stations set up for first aid in case someone needs first aid or if anything happens like that. We work very closely with Biloxi fire and we’re working to keep everybody safe. Let’s just make sure that everybody stays hydrated everyone has fun and everyone enjoys themselves while the Blue Angels are here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.”

AMR recommends staying hydrated, not consuming too much alcohol, and using plenty of sunscreen if you plan on attending the Blue Angels air show.
