Alleged murder suspect surrenders in Pascagoula
This afternoon an alleged murder suspect surrendered to authorities after barricading himself inside a home in Pascagoula.
U.S. Marshals along with the Pascagoula Police Department and Jackson and George County sheriff negotiated with a California murder suspect for nearly three hours at a home on Brazil Street before his surrender.
News 25 spoke to the U.S. Marshal Acting Supervisor Raymond Smiles who says the man was 32-year-old Raymond Preston from Los Angeles who was wanted out of California on a murder charge.
According to Smiles, he had been staying at his distant cousin’s home in Pascagoula for nearly a week. Preston is now in the Jackson County Jail waiting to be transferred back to California.
News 25 is told Preston is a recorded gang member who has previously been convicted for burglary, weapons violation, and resisting arrest.
