Air Travel Woes from Snow Storm

More than 10,000 flights were cancelled this weekend because of Winter Storm Jonas.
Here in South Mississippi, travelers saw the impact of the storm at the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport. Over 100 people were left stranded after several direct flights to Charlotte were cancelled because of the inclement weather.
Airport officials tell News 25 when large hubs have cancellations, a domino effect occurs at smaller airports. Director of Marketing Teckie Hinkebein said, “Anytime that something like this happens and Atlanta, one of the largest airports we fly to, Dallas/Fort Worth wasn’t impacted as much but we saw a lot in Charlotte, North Carolina. Anytime those big airports are affected, you’re going to see a trickle-down effect and you’re gonna see those delays and you’re gonna see those cancellations. Fortunately, we only had a few from Charlotte, so it looks like things will get back to normal pretty soon.”
All Delta flights leaving out of Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport today were scheduled to depart on time.
