Aggravated Assault / Grand Larceny Arrest – Shaun Stroud
On April 8, 2018 the Gulfport Police Department arrested 32 year old Shaun Michael Stroud, of Kiln, charging him with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Grand Larceny, and two counts of Felony Malicious Mischief. Total bond was $550,000 set by Harrison County Justice Court Judge Melvin Ray.
On April 8, 2018 at 6:56 a.m., Officers responded to Walmart located at 9350 Highway 49, Gulfport, Mississippi in reference to a tractor damaging property and vehicles. It was later discovered that Shawn Stroud gained entry into Gulf Recycling located at 14472 Creosote Road, Gulfport, Mississippi. Stroud took a 2008 John Deer frontend loader and drove down Creosote Road. Stroud drove the tractor to Walmart, were he struck a 53 foot utility trailer, an occupied Dodge Durango, an occupied Dodge Charger, an unoccupied Toyota Land Cruiser, an unoccupied Dodge Grand Caravan, another 53 foot utility Trailer, and ran into the Walmart Lawn and garden center fence gate. Stroud then drove to Pat Peck Nissan located at 9480 Highway 49 where the tractor was disabled by a flat tire. He was then taken into custody. Two victims traveled to Memorial hospital to seek medical attention for minor injuries.
Stroud was transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center. The cause for Stroud’s actions is still under investigation. It did not appear to investigators that Stroud was targeting any specific vehicle or business. Other charges are pending damage estimates.
