Act of kindness inspires others to pay it forward at Taco Sombrero in Gulfport

One customer’s act of kindness at Taco Sombrero in Gulfport inspired 78 other drivers to pay it forward.

Taco Sombrero Drive-Thru Cashier Makenna Morgan said, “At first, we were kind of shocked. We thought it would just be five cars maybe, then it just kept going and we were like ‘whoa.’ Then one guy paid for a $40 order and we were like ‘whoa, some people are really nice.’”

Seventy-nine drivers in total participated in the pay it forward at Taco Sombrero in Gulfport Monday, each driver paying for the order behind them in the drive-thru line. Makenna was working the drive-thru and witnessed the two hour long act of kindness. “They were like ‘oh my gosh, are you serious?’ I was like ‘yeah,’ they were like ‘okay I wanna put five dollars behind us or can I just go ahead and pay for theirs.’”

For Makenna and her crew, the participation was astonishing. “At first we were kind of shocked because we thought we would get through a few, but when we got to 50 we were like ‘this is real, we gotta keep it going.’’

Taco Sombrero Owner Vicki Parkhill recalls seeing the Facebook post made about the pay it forward chain at Taco Sombrero. “It was just overwhelming. We just really appreciate it. We see our customers pay it forward, but nothing like yesterday. One car after another, 79 to 80 people, that’s just wonderful. We’re just so thankful to our customers 100 percent.”

Taco Sombrero plans on celebrating their 40 year anniversary this September.
