With a little bit of water and just the right amount of sweet and tart, Kaley and Paige Wilson stirred up a tasty way to give back to the community. They set up a lemonade stand that raised over $300 in just a couple of hours. Paige said, “I was expecting to only raise like 50,200, 50, 100 something.”
Overwhelmed with the amount of donations, they decided to use the money to purchase mugs for local law enforcement. The two even went the extra mile by knocking on doors and delivering the gift personally. “It felt like we just cheered up a dozen people,” said Paige
“It was really sweet because we just saw the people tearing up and there was like one person who had tears rolling down their eyes,” said Kaley.
The sisters delivered mugs and hugs all across the Coast, putting smiles on the faces of officers with the Biloxi police and fire departments, D’Iberville Police Department, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department and more. John Marr with the Harrison County Sherriff’s Department said, “It’s just rewarding for us to be given something, a token of their appreciation, especially from young children like this.”
The sisters are in the process of organizing more lemonade stands for the future. They plan to donate toward a different organization or cause each time. “We might give money to St. Jude or we might give it to the pound,” said Paige.
