Two men now charged in shooting death of Pascagoula man

Two men are now charged in the fatal shooting of a Pascagoula man in his apartment.

The shooting happened around 7:40 Sunday night at an apartment building on Agnes Street. Pascagoula police say they found 68-year-old Claude Bivins Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound.

First responders tried to save him, but were unsuccessful. An autopsy is scheduled for later this week.

Kevin Wayne Sherrod, 45, of Pascagoula, was chased as he ran from the scene. He initially was charged with capital murder. However, after further investigation, a second man was charged and Sherrod’s charges have been amended.

Sherrod is now charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and probation violation. He remains in the Jackson County jail with no bond. Further charges are pending.

Pascagoula Police also charged Harvey Williams Jr., 74, of Pascagoula with first degree murder. He was taken to the Jackson County jail and bond is set at $1 million.
