Bomb threats made to several college campuses

Police are investigating a series of bomb threats made to college campuses on the Coast and statewide

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College says it received threats on three of its campuses this morning — the Bryant Center on Highway 67 at Tradition, the Jackson County campus in Gautier and on the main campus in Perkinston.

All the buildings were evacuated while crews searched for any credible threat.

The Biloxi bomb squad, at the request of the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, searched the Tradition campuses of MGCCC and William Carey after threats were made to those campuses. The campuses were cleared.

According to reports on social media, at least four other campuses in the state have received threats: Alcorn School of Nursing in Natchez, Mississippi State University, Meridian Community College, Itawamba Community College

In February, four Historically Black College and University campuses confirmed bomb threats made to their campuses. And on Wednesday, several Alabama college campuses received similar threats. No word on whether these are related.
