Update on Man Who Drove Truck into Stone Co. Jail
The Sheriff’s Department is now focusing on repairing a side entrance to the jail after a man crashed his pickup truck through it around 7 o’clock last night.
Richard Lee, in his 60’s, is now facing DUI and reckless driving charges. Sheriff’s deputies say Lee had been trying to visit his son, who was locked up over the weekend for DUI. When Lee was denied visitation, he became frustrated and drove his truck through the facility.
Phyllis Olds, Stone County Chief Deputy, said, “He was mad because his son was arrested over the weekend. It was past visitation time and he wanted to see his son, but his son had called and told him several things that were not true. Mr. Richard was very remorseful. He was very sorry he did it. I believe it was alcohol fueled.”
Lee’s family posted his bail last night. He was charged with a DUI and reckless driving. He will appear before a judge and be fined in the next couple of months.
