Children’s Mardi Gras Parade

Carnival season is kicking into high gear and people of all ages are getting ready for the big events.

For the past 20 years, kids 12 and under have been participating in the Children’s Mardi Gras Parade in Biloxi. The theme of the parade is ‘it’s all on the line’ and children and families are encouraged to be in costume and decorate their bikes or wagons.

It is free for anyone to participate in the parade. Biloxi Historical Administrator Bill Raymond said, “We bring in usually about 300 to 500 children we will sign up for the parade. They will decorate their little wagons or bikes and the floats they will get in costume based on the theme and we will have the parade. After the parade, we will have a little celebration for them. This year it is at City Hall and there will be arts and crafts, refreshments, and a chance for them to meet the king and queen from Gulf Coast Carnival for last year. So, it is a lot of fun and it is really about family and learning the Mardi Gras traditions.”

To sign up you can head over to the Biloxi Visitors Center.
