Colmer Middle School, which is just next door to the apartment complex, and Jackson Elementary, which is one street over, were both put on lockdown for a short time as a precautionary measure.
This morning’s gunfire has left Pascagoula residents shaken. Pascagoula resident Rickey Edgar said, “I was just shocked to learn someone would commit such an act like that so close to a school. I’m a firm believer, because I used to work with youth, that kids are always considered first and because they didn’t ask to be here and they are precious and you know, by the beginning of the year, it just kind of took me by surprise.”
This shooting is still under investigation.
