Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush in Mississippi
A likely Republican Presidential candidate was on hand in the State Capitol today as Governor Phil Bryant signed off on a new bill designed to help children with special needs.
Jeb Bush applauded Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant as he signed the “Equal Opportunity for Students with Special Needs Act”.
Less than one-quarter of students with special needs, like those with dyslexia, graduate from graduate from Mississippi high school.
Under this pilot program, 500 families will receive 65 hundred dollars to help their special needs children in school.
Bush says this is an important step in helping these students get the resources they need.
"And I learned, and I learned a whole lot. I learned what it was to be a mom or a dad or a family taking care of a child who had unique gifts but also big challenges. And there are a lot of those in Florida, and there are a lot of those in Mississippi. And that learning experience gave me a passion to make sure that families that struggle like this, not just in school but in everyday life, should be in the front of the line."
As from a Presidential bid, Bush says he’s on a journey to measure support and plans to make up his soon.
Senators Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, and Ted Cruz are already in the race on the GOP side.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is running for the democratic nomination.
