Women of Wisdom celebrates 27 years of empowering Gulf Coast women
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- WOW Women of Wisdom marked 27 years of connecting and empowering women.
This year, they celebrated the milestone with fellowship, fun, and some head-turning hats.
The Knight Nonprofit Center was filled with nearly 100 women with wacky hats, as the Women of Wisdom gathered to celebrate their 27th anniversary. Women of Wisdom Founder Robin Killeen said, “We started with fear and trembling because we didn’t know what we were doing. God just kept leading us, we pray every day, we pray about our speakers, what we do, and what we’re supposed to wear. So, I just think it’s an authentic love that they feel here. We truly don’t want anyone to leave the way they came. If they came with baggage or they needed prayer, then we want to make sure we meet those needs before they leave and I think that’s what keeps us successful.”
WOW is a nonprofit ministry built around empowering women and this luncheon brought that mission to life with good food, fellowship, and a red-carpet catwalk, where women showed off their wackiest hats for a chance to take home trophies and other prizes from a raffle. Attendee Kelli Whyte said, “Oh my gosh, I’m having so much fun, the fellowship, the women, and the new friends I’m making is amazing.”
The fun continues next month with a cowgirl-theme luncheon, giving these women another opportunity to build new connections.
