King’s Family Christmas

The King’s Family Christmas is a tradition that brought Christmas joy to the Coast for close to 40 years is now back by popular demand.

Some would call it a Coast treasure, a Christmas display that brought joy to generations from all over, but it hasn’t brought Christmas cheer since 1996, shortly after Judy King, the creator of the display, passed on after a battle with breast cancer.

Now, after more than 20 years, Judy’s family has brought the tradition back to life. Lisa Krol, Marshall and Judy’s daughter, said, “Growing up we never knew what is what like to not have the Christmas display. It was just a family tradition that we looked forward to Thanksgiving every year because that’s when we knew every year we would put up the display.”

Marshall King, Judy’s husband, is now 92 and he says he’s happy his family decided to continue the tradition. “This is a special Christmas for me because I’m 92-years-old and I don’t know whether I’ll see many more or not.”

Lisa was the main one who had the idea to start the display back up.“Several items that we have are things that mom has made and lots of the items on display in my house are things that were mom’s so they are very special to us. Many of the traditions that mom started we tried to continue those.”

This display has new additions and some classics like twinkly lights, snowmen, Judy and Lisa’s handmade items, and more.

The Kings welcome you to come join them and have a wonderful Christmas time. Starting Saturday, December 8th until the 30th the display will be open nightly from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. and it’s completely free. “Christmas is free and should never be charged for. So, anyone that comes through our doors is family. So, we’d love to see everyone,” said Lisa.

Santa will even be there to visit with the kids every Saturday and Sunday night.
