Fourth annual ‘Flip the Switch’ at Jones Park

The Make-A-Wish Foundation and the City of Gulfport lit up the Christmas season for the Holland family at the fourth annual Flip the Switch event.

Three-year-old Sumner Holland is battling leukemia. So, the Make-A-Wish Foundation decided to spread some Christmas cheer, allowing him to turn on the lights at Gulfport Harbor Lights Festival.

For the fourth year in a row, the Make-A-Wish Foundation spreads some holiday cheer on the Coast, making a child’s day during the most wonderful time of the year.

Sumner’s father, Dru Holland, tells News 25 the family is in good spirits and this was a great way to kick-off their holiday season. “Let God take care of the rest. He’s certainly helped us out on this one. I think we are in a good place right now and hopefully it continues.”

The rain cut the fun a little short, but no worries, the Holland family will get another chance to get the full experience of the Gulfport Harbor Lights Festival.
