Vehicle crash on Lamey Bridge Road

D’Iberville police responded to the intersection of Lamey Bridge Road and Lickskillet Road yesterday for a vehicle crash with injuries.

A 2015 Kia Soul was driving northbound on Lamey Bridge Road, followed by a 2008 Chevy Silverado pickup truck.

The driver of the Kia Soul was turning west onto Lickskillet Road when the driver of the Chevrolet truck attempted to pass as the vehicle was making the left hand turn. The truck struck the Kia on the front driver side, causing it to overturn. Both occupants of the truck were ejected.

The female passenger in the truck was identified as Mardi Gollet of Biloxi. She is listed in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Kia was transported by private vehicle from the scene.

The driver of the truck, Kenneth Atwell of Vancleave, fled the scene of the accident prior to officer’s arrival and later returned. Atwell was charged with reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, driving under the influence, no driver’s license and no proof of insurance.
