Airman’s death ruled accidental drowning

We are learning more about the cause of death for the Keesler Air Force Base airman who was found in the Tchoutacabouffa River.

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove ruled Staff Sgt. Luis Cisneros-Godinez’s death an accidental drowning. He confirmed that there were no injuries indicating that an alligator injured Cisneros-Godinez.

The body was recovered on October 7th after residents near the Arbor Landing on the River apartments called Marine Patrol about a possible drowning.

Cisneros-Godinez was an active duty U.S. Air Force airman and a medical lab technician with the 81st Diagnostics and Therapeutics Squadron, 81st Medical Group, 81st Training Wing.
