Gulf Coast Fan Fest

If you’re a big fan of shows like “The Walking Dead” or movies like “Star Wars” then the Gulf Coast Fan Fest is an event you won’t want to miss.

Gulf Coast Fan Fest at the Coast Convention Center will house artists, actors, and comic book characters from 10 to 6 Saturday and Sunday. There will be plenty of ways to show off your best costumes and art as well as opportunities to see cars and other props from your favorite pop culture films and shows.

Organizers from Pensacon helped to get this event to South Mississippi.

Fan Fest will have some pretty big names for attendees to meet, have photo ops with, and get autographs from including stars such as Sam Jones aka Flash Gordon and Ming Chen from AMC’s “Comic Book Men.”

Chen said, “I tell people you know we shoot the show in New Jersey and you live in San Diego, you know, if you can’t come and see us we came to see you.”

Jones said, “That’s why we’re here. I mean, I do these for three reasons and I know Ming does, too. We are here to please the fans. We are here to please the promoter and we’re here to generate as much provision as we can. We travel the world almost every weekend doing this.”

“I call it the traveling circus, but Sam’s the strong man and I’m like the little bearded lady, I guess,” said Chen.

If you want to get in on the fun, daily passes are $20 or you can get a weekend pass for $35. VIP passes are $75 which include an exclusive t-shirt, free parking, front line for autographs and photo ops as well as 30 minute early entry.

There’s also an after party tomorrow night with a costume contest at the Crooked Letter Brewing Company in Ocean Springs starting at 10 p.m.
