Drew Brees needs 201 yards to pass Peyton Manning

Two weeks ago, Saints quarterback Drew Brees set a new NFL record, surpassing Brett Favre in career completions. Back for more, the future Hall of Famer is now on the brink of putting his name next to yet another historic milestone.

Brees sits exactly 200 yards away from matching Peyton Manning’s mark for career passing yards of 71,940. Favre also stands between first and third, but considering Brees has thrown for less than 200 yards just twice since the start of 2014, you can do the math.

Leading up to Monday night’s date with the Redskins, Brees is reflecting on his first-ever pre-season experience in Miami in bring it all full circle. “Back in 2001 and remember walking in the stadium for the first time and looking up in the ring of honor and seeing Dan Marino’s name, and every passing record next to it that is in that ring of honor there. And just looking at those numbers just mind-boggled, just saying man, how long do you have to play in order to accomplish something like that? And at the time, I was just hoping to solidify the backup position and eventually, maybe one day be the starter. So to be sitting here 18 years later, it’s just kind of mind-boggling.”

New Orleans will kick off its first of five primetime games versus Washington at 7:15 p.m. on Monday Night Football.
