City of Poplarville announces opening date for new post office
PEARL RIVER COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- Poplarville’s postal employees will finally move into their new permanent post office location, something that’s been years in the making.
The new location at 935 South Main Street will be open for business at 8:30 Tuesday morning, according to the city’s postmaster.
The facility was supposed to open earlier this year, but has been pushed back numerous times due to various delays in getting the building open for business.
Poplarville has been without a permanent post office building since 2022, when structural issues forced the closure of the previous building, and postal workers have operated out of a temporary mobile facility since then.
