Mississippi/Alabama All-Star Game

Each year, 40 players are selected to represent the Magnolia State in the Mississippi/Alabama All-Star Game.

This year, two standouts from right here on the Gulf Coast are among those 40, those being East Central’s Avery White and Harrison Central’s Bryce Ramsey.

Let’s start with Ramsey, the offensive right guard for the Red Rebels, who’s rated as a three star recruit according to 24/7 Sports. The senior is a four year starter at Harrison Central where the Red Rebels are currently sitting in first place atop region 4 class 6A.

Ramsey, who says he found out about his invitation in algebra class, has been committed to Ole Miss since March and he’ll be joining seven other future Rebels on the 2018 roster, the most representation by any division I school. “I’m very honored to play for my home state. I’m going to go out there and work, I’m going to eat out there and I’m going to work for a position and I’m going to represent Mississippi. We’re going to dominate. That’s all I know, we’re just going to dominate. And we have a lot of guys coming up to Ole Miss that’s on the Mississippi-Alabama team, and we’re just going to dominate.”

Harrison Central head football Coach Casey Cain said, “They say this year’s senior class in Mississippi is the best in the last 10 years, and I think going every day at practice with those guys will help him get ready for the next level. But the biggest thing there is not worrying about Ole Miss, it’s worrying about Mississippi all-stars and try to beat Alabama.”

The 32nd annual All-Star Classic will be played at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, December 17th across enemy lines at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Alabama.

Now, White is going to be another one of those guys trying to help the Mississippi boys win their third game in the last four years as a stud linebacker for the still undefeated Hornets. The uncommitted senior led the Gulf Coast with 202 tackles a season ago and currently holds division I offers from Southern Miss and South Alabama.

Through five games in 2018, White has 62 tackles, 14 of those coming for loss.

Overall, Alabama leads the all-time series 22-9.

It’s Avery White putting on for East Central, Ole Miss commit Bryce Ramsey, hailing from Harrison Central, and then Pascagoula head man Lewis Sims earning his place on the coaching staff as the defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach.

Plenty of Gulf Coast representation for the 80th annual Bernard Blackwell Classic, starting with the 6A schools: Biloxi’s Jordon Montgomery, Southern Miss commit Louis Paul Smith, Jarid Johnson from Pascagoula, Derick Hall and his 18 division I offers, hailing from Gulfport, alongside fellow Admiral and another future Golden Eagle TQ Newsome.

Over at Hancock, Trenton Ladner and Brooks Rayburn representing for the Hawks, Harrison Central’s Wes Carter plus a pair from Ocean Springs, Evan Hill and Micah Kelly.

Finally it’s Mississippi State commit Brandon Cunningham and ‘Ham’ McGee from St. Martin as well as some love at 4A Poplarville where it’s Ross Barnett and head coach Jay Beech getting the nod as one of the assistants on staff.
