Biloxi Shuckers host William Carey in exhibition game at MGM Park
Sometimes in life, we get a true win-win scenario where everybody goes home happy.
For instance, take the Biloxi Shuckers hosting William Carey in tonight’s exhibition game down at MGM Park.
The shuckers getting one final tune up before Opening Day and the Crusaders getting the chance to play in a minor league park against some of the best in the world.
Crusaders making the Shuckers work for It, 5-4 Biloxi wins in eight innings.
A win is a win, doesn’t count in the standings, but still a good step for the Shuckers on their way to playing winning baseball in 2022. Shuckers Manager Mike Guerrero said, “When I said winning is part of development, it is. Because when you get to the big leagues, you better know what they’re expecting from you. So, our big league skipper, when he looks at you, he knows exactly what he needs from you. And you know exactly what they are expecting from you. So those are part of the development that’s really important. Sometimes you’re not going to conquer that W, but you played the game the right way.”
The Shuckers lead off their 2022 regular season with a quick three-game road trip against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos starting Friday at 6:35 p.m.
Here’s a look at the local players in the William Carey dugout tonight.
Three of them: senior catcher out of West Harrison Colby Cagle, junior infielder out of Resurrection Catholic Patrick Lee, and senior catcher out of St. Stanislaus Magruder O’Bannon.
