Highway 90 paving project in Biloxi

The markings on the asphalt near storm drains along Highway 90 in Biloxi are the first signals that MDOT is nearly ready to begin a major paving and repair project in the area.

The nine miles of highway between Debuys Road and the Biloxi Bay Bridge will be getting curb and sidewalk repairs. The $6.5 million project, which was awarded to Warren Paving, will include drainage work and new asphalt as well.

MDOT District Engineer Kelly Castleberry tells News 25 Highway 90 is an extremely popular stretch of road which is why doing this project now is so important. “It’s mainly doing maintenance work for that area. There are a lot of festivals. We have Cruisin’ the Coast coming up and that section of Highway 90 is used a lot. The main thing we are trying to do is keep them in pretty good repair. If it gets in too much disrepair it costs a lot more money to try to retrofit that and bring it up to what it needs to be.”

The entire project is scheduled to be completed by May 2019.
