Bulldogs confident leading up to Friday’s CWS game
Outside of Tennessee Tech, Oregon State is the only division I baseball team in the entire nation to eclipse the 50-win plateau in 2018. Good thing for 39 win Mississippi State, the Bulldogs have two chances to win one game.
Today, those Diamond Dawgs took the field at TD Ameritrade Park for their last practice leading up to tomorrow’s date with destiny. With a victory, MSU would advance to the College World Series final, just like they did in 2013.
But with a loss, State would be at the mercy of a winner take all if necessary game against the free-swinging Beavers.
Even following OSU’s explosive comeback versus UNC last night, the Bulldogs remain confident in their SEC preparation. MSU pitcher Jacob Billingsley said, “Well, obviously all year you’ve seen they can swing. They have several first-rounders in there, but same thing, SEC guys, you face that day in and day out in the SEC, it is nothing different for us, just another game. It is a big game but it’s another game, that’s how we’re going to approach it, that’s how we’re going to take it. So, we’re going to try to take care of business with that.”
MSU interim head Coach Gary Henderson said, “Beavers are a really good club and it’ll be a really competitive game, and we’re certainly looking forward to it and I’m sure they are as well.”
The Diamond Dawgs and Beavers will lead things off from TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha at 2 p.m. tomorrow. The game is set to be televised on ESPN.
